THE LANGHAM, XINTIANDI, SET TO UNVEIL ITS SIGNATURE RESTAURANT MING COURT IN MARCH.
The Langham, Xintiandi, Shanghai will unveil the private dining rooms of its luxurious new signature restaurant Ming Court on March 15. Located on level 5, with views overlooking Xintiandi and Tai Ping Lake, Ming Court will offer modern Chinese cuisine with a focus on both Cantonese and Shanghainese dishes.
The nine private dining rooms cater for between four to 10 guests in each room and are ideal for business entertaining or enjoying time with family and friends. In late April, the hotel will also reveal Ming Court’s main dining area which will seat 24 and offer guests an elegant and stylish dining experience along with magnificent views of the hotel’s outdoor lounge XTD Elevated opening in late Spring.
The Ming Court bespoke dining experience begins from the moment guests arrive on level 5, where they will be welcomed by a hostess dressed by internationally renowned fashion designer Lu Kun, who is also responsible for designing Ming Court’s staff uniforms. Born in Shanghai, Lu Kun is famous for his ‘Shanghai-Chic’ fashions and has won numerous awards including ‘2004 Best Young Designer in China’. His designs have been exhibited all around the world including London’s Victoria & Albert museum, 2008 New York Fashion Week and in 2009, he won the coveted MTV award for ‘Most Stylish Fashion Designer’. Lu Kun’s designs have also been incorporated into Ming Court’s show plates which guests see as soon as they sit down.
When it comes to cuisine, Ming Court’s will have two Executive Chefs: Chef Kwong, originally from Hong Kong will create Cantonese dishes and Chef Tony Su, a Shanghai local with extensive experience in many of Shanghai’s five-star hotel restaurants, will be responsible for creating the Shanghainese menu.
With an extensive career spanning more than 35 years, Chef Kwong comes to Shanghai from Langham Hospitality Group where he was Executive Chinese Chef - Corporate and was responsible for the vision of Langham Hotels’ Chinese restaurants such as the two Michelin star T’ang Court at The Langham, Hong Kong and Langham Place, Mong Kok’s Ming Court restaurant. He has won many culinary awards over the years and now he is often called upon to judge international culinary competitions throughout SE Asia. His philosophy is simple: ‘Just as creativity is important, so is quality’.
Chef Tony is known for his signature dish of Soy sauce pork with dried bamboo shoots served with chestnut pancakes, just one of the dishes that will feature on Ming Court’s menu. His desire to be innovative while still blending traditional Shanghainese flavours is what makes his cuisine so sought after.
After the guests have made their selection from the extensive menu, Ming Court’s dedicated wine sommelier Benjamin Zhong whose specialises in wine pairing will be on hand to recommend wines to complement their chosen dishes. Benjamin hopes to encourage guests to experiment with their wine selection especially when it comes to matching wine and Chinese cuisine.
If guests are looking to enjoy an elegant dining experience with innovative Cantonese and Shanghainese cuisine then Ming Court is the perfect place to indulge your senses.
Ming Court is open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Business set menus start from RMB258 per person and all Ming Court prices are net and incur no additional service charge.
