The history of afternoon tea can be traced back to 1840 and is widely acknowledged as being invented by Anna, Seventh Duchess of Bedford, to ward off hunger pangs in the long hours between lunch and dinner. The Langham London was the first hotel to serve afternoon tea back in 1865.
Today, The Langham Xintiandi continues this British tradition by offering a selection of savoury and sweet temptations including warm fruit scones, macaroons, cakes, tartlets, and traditional cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches; all served on beautiful bespoke Wedgwood crockery and Christofle silverware.
As a special treat, The Langham Xintiandi will also introduce an exclusive chocolate Tiffin created by world renowned chocolatier Enric Rovira who will visit the hotel during April. Enric’s chocolate masterpieces are favoured by royalty and celebrities around the world and his creations will be lovingly recreated by The Lang ham’s own team of talented pastry chefs especially for this celebration.
